What are crystal healing bowls?
Since the earliest of times, dating back to somewhere before the coming of Christ, the singing bowl was used to enhance meditative states. Authentic crystal healing bowls are made from pure crushed quartz, and heated to about 4000 degrees in a centrifugal mould. They usually come in a variety of sizes ranging from 6 to 24 inches in diameter. There are twelve bowls in a complete set which is called the "Twelve Powers Bowls." The bowls emit a "singing" or reverberating sound when a stick is run around the rim in a circular motion. The purpose or intention is to use the sound to enhance the depth of meditation or prayer. The size of the bowl does not necessarily determine its "note" however the larger bowls do emit lower octaves and notes. The notes are said to correspond with the chakra system in the body.
The Twelve Powers Bowls are based on the original teachings of Charles and Myrtle Fillmore . The Fillmore's established that there were twelve qualities or powers in humanity, as illustrated by the twelve sons of Jacob, or twelve tribes of Israel, and the twelve apostles of Jesus. The Fillmore's were not heathen in their beliefs, quite the contrary; they were deeply spiritual. They established the Unity School of Christianity in 1914, and published at least three spiritual magazines prior to that. While the Fillmore's were deeply religious, they didn't think of God the way the Bible does. For example, they didn't acknowledge the concept of the Holy Trinity. They taught the New Age or Pantheistic idea that "God is all and all is God."
